Filed under: Islam and mosques, mayor bloomberg sells out, mosque at ground zero
UPDATE (August 9. 2010) We understand that the taxi ads are “out-there” (supposedly). However, the ONE and only taxi ad that was seen at the beginning of the campaign was vandalized. We just don’t ‘get’ how FIFTY taxis with the “Leaving Islam” ad remains un-spotted.
Stood on 8th ave and 47th today and 10th ave and 47th (different times of the day) Loads of taxis in mid-town. Caught 8 blanks and LOTS of Flash dance, but NO “Leaving Islam” (which still remains a ‘tad’ odd, we think.)
And GREAT NEWS re the Bus ads: the MTA CAVED! (from Atlas Shrugs)
MTA Caves: Ground Zero Bus Campaign Will Run
The MTA has recognized the justice of our position in our lawsuit, and has agreed to run our ad as originally submitted.
This is a great victory for freedom of speech, and we are grateful to our attorneys David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise for mounting such an effective defense against politically correct censorship. Read more at Atlas Shrugs

In July of 2008, this ad was found on the New York Subway (paid advertising)

..
And the MTA ran these paid ads on NYC busses in June 2009

..
Found these MTA bus ads the end of July 2010 on 42nd Street

And this was on the back of 104, Isaiah53.com, (July 31, 2010) heading up 8th Avenue:

So, Mayor Bloomberg, why have you refused to post this paid AD on the NY city busses:

The answer is obvious. We are facing the submission of the weak, to wit Bloomberg, Stringer, Land Mark Commission, etc. There is no way to resist the Muslim jihad except ruthlessly.
Comment by Eric Zarahn August 9, 2010 @ 4:26 amI visited New York City in mid April and I hired quite a few taxis. What I saw was mostly muslim drivers. So my question would be…are the drivers removing those ads? Do they take them down after leaving their terminal? Somebody better start up an investigation or this is going to be on FOX NEWS.
Comment by Infidel Task Force August 9, 2010 @ 1:01 pmThat is CERTAINLY what I was thinking…why are 50 taxis not to be see any where in Times Sq….
Comment by neveragain911 August 9, 2010 @ 4:43 pmIt is because the mayor has only very limited sway over the MTA, which is a state agency; that’s thanks to Mayor Vincent R. Impellitteri, who had the state take over the city’s transportation system in 1953. The New York City public transit buses are owned by and are the property of the State of New York, not the City of New York.
@Infidel Task Force—as most taxi drivers do not own their cabs, they’re not in a position to remove those ads—and if they are removed, Clear Channel Outdoor just slaps a new one on for the duration of the ad contract.
BTW, very related: you may want to add this image (and point out the side ad): Leaving Islam? ad on bus 6470, July 6, 2010
Comment by aemoreira81 August 9, 2010 @ 11:55 pmwhere did you take that picture?? So I can identify the location. Thanks.
Comment by neveragain911 August 10, 2010 @ 12:39 amThat picture is on Hillside Avenue and Springfield Boulevard. Ironically, I was looking for a window side on 6469 but blew the shot an hour before that one came by. (On Atlas Shrugs, 6471 was pictured.)
Comment by Adam August 10, 2010 @ 3:37 amThanks…I’m still confused…Manhattan? (sorry for being dense)
Comment by neveragain911 August 10, 2010 @ 4:58 amIt’s in Queens Village.
Comment by Adam August 10, 2010 @ 5:36 pmThanks, Adam. Spent 3 hours looking for bus and taxi ads today. Found more blanks.. Up to about 30. if those and all the flash dancers are so easy to spot, why not our ads?? G;ad you caught the bus ad in Queens

Comment by Infidel Task Force August 10, 2010 @ 12:33 pmI understand that about the cab owners …what I mean is that they (the drivers) may leave the terminal or garage…remove the sign, then replace it when returning at the end of the shift. I place no faith in the driver.
…and yes I saw that bus ad already. When I was in Miami late June, I was hoping to see the ad, but no bus (that I saw) had one.
Would love to catch a taxi (by his ID number) with the sign removed (or covered it up) very suspicious to have found no taxi ads to date. let’s hope we see the bus ads, now that they’re finally approved!
Comment by neveragain911 August 10, 2010 @ 4:50 pmBy that point, the ad contract would have expired; I believe that the ad I shot has been replaced.
I also shot a picture of a Muslims for Peace about 50 minutes after—purely by accident.
Comment by Adam August 10, 2010 @ 6:07 pmI caught the Muslims For Peace on 42nd St and out 10 days ago. An accidental sighting, also.
Comment by neveragain911 August 10, 2010 @ 9:10 pmBTW—if you’re looking for the Leaving Islam? ad in NYC, chances are it’s now off buses as its contract is long gone.
Comment by Adam August 11, 2010 @ 4:42 ami never saw one of those in manhattan…glad you caught a picture
Comment by neveragain911 August 11, 2010 @ 7:16 amwhat is s bad about the atheist one?
Comment by Jack August 13, 2010 @ 9:36 amThe point is not “bad”. It’s about consistency. These ads were paid for and the MTA ran them, even though these ads could have been offensive to someone. The MTA was inconsistent by censoring the SIOA ad based on ‘feelings’? The MTA has had the good-sense to now honor their arrangement with SIOA.
Comment by neveragain911 August 13, 2010 @ 2:47 pmWhich is why the MTA allowed this ad as a counter to the ad on 6470 above. The Leaving Islam? ad was also paid for by SIOA.
However, does an agency have no right to control what message goes on its vehicles, even if they are not funded by federal dollars? (The MTA does not use federal dollars to buy the buses it owns.)
Comment by Adam August 13, 2010 @ 3:50 pmBTW, the location of that: Gateway Mall, Brooklyn.
Comment by Adam August 13, 2010 @ 3:59 pmThe “Peaceful Religion” bus-ads I saw were on 42nd St- Manhattan. Glad you caught one in Bklyn. There was no publicity, it snuck-thru. A bone to appease after the SIOA ad, most probably.
Comment by neveragain911 August 13, 2010 @ 7:15 pm“ALL THAT IS NECESSARY FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING”
Comment by jane August 17, 2010 @ 3:10 amYour mayor should be ashamed of himself. Hope you get another one soon. He has sold out. I wonder where his loyalty lies. Bloomberg sounds Jewish to me, so while they are trying to wipe Jews off the face of the earth, what is he thinking? This reminds me when I was reading about during the Exodus of Egypt into the Promised land and those women bringing foreign gods and idols along for the trip. The division, the polluting by idols and false religions is going to destroy this country. Thank your local “progressives” who want to be so broadminded their very brains are falling out. Ask yourself the question, Mr. Mayor: Can you build a Jewish recreational or a Christain recreational center in the land of Muslims? I think not. All Muslims are taught that non-muslims are pigs and are not worthy to live. Now, think what you are promoting. Is the taxes and money worth selling your soul. You might better stand up for your faith, if you have any and know who you are supposed to be and not defile your stewardship that God has allowed you to have.
