No Mosques At Ground Zero

Sharif El-Gamal (SoHoProperties) was a WAITER in 2002!

Sharif El-Gamal, the “developer” from Soho Properties…was a WAITER in 2002! (love this candid shot from Atlas Shrugs!)

Sammy and Sharif El-Gamal of SOHO Properties have been throwing around $$$ Millions of dollars in cash, buying apartments for themselves and expensive Manhattan Commercial buildings, where does the cash come from ?

Sharif El-Gamal was waiting tables at Serafina’s Restaurant in New York City  and Sammy El-Gamal was waiting tables at Tao Restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan NY, from there they both broke into the real estate business by renting apartments on commission, they were not selling any properties.

In July 2009 Sharif El-Gamal sets up SOHO PROPERTIES GENERAL PARTNER, LLC a Delaware corporation as a foreign entity in the New York State Division of Corporations and buys the old Burlington Coat Factory property at 45 Park Place for $4.8 million for cash (in July 2009), where did the cash come for the old Burlington Coat Factory property at 45 Park Place that is to be rehabed into a Mosque and where will the $100 Million come from to rehab the building into a Mosque ?”

H/T from The Right Scoop

“Apparently this guy (Sharif El-Gamal) saved the 4.8 million for this purchase from renting apartments on commission in NY [… ] must’ve earned one heck of a commission! (If you’re in a hurry, skip to 2:15.)

Vodpod videos no longer available.

So, Mayor Bloomberg, when do the investigations begin? SHOW US THE MONEY!

NY POST: El-Gamal doesn’t own BOTH buildings on Park Place!
August 9, 2010, 4:30 am
Filed under: Islam and mosques, mayor bloomberg sells out, mosque at ground zero

August 8, 2010 : Amazing what comes out AFTER the Landmark Commission meets. And NOW the Chairwoman of CB 1 is shocked? SHOCKED that they weren’t told this information. The Post headline says it all:

Half-baked mosque

Developer owns only part of site!!

“…The developers of the controversial mosque proposed near Ground Zero own only half the site where they want to construct the $100 million building …

One of the two buildings on Park Place is owned by Con Edison, even though Soho Properties told officials and the public that it owns the entire parcel. And any potential sale by Con Ed faces a review by the state Public Service Commission.

“We never heard anything about Con Ed whatsoever, said a stunned Julie Menin, the chairwoman of Community Board 1, which passed a May resolution supporting the mosque.

Daisy Khan, one of the mosque’s organizers ….  claimed ignorance about the Con Ed ownership of 49-51 Park Place and referred questions to Soho Properties, which bought the building at 45-47 Park Place in 2009.

Rep. Peter King (R-LI) who opposes the mosque, said the developers seemed to be “operating under false pretenses. I wonder what else they are hiding.” Said King, “If we can’t have the full truth on this, what can we believe?” …

NMAFZ asks:  So what happens now, since Con Ed owns part of the property?? Nothing? Or will we finally get an investigation?? Full disclosure.? And maybe , just maybe they will have to “SHOW US THE MONEY!!”

MTA had no problem with these ads. “So, what’s up, Bloomy?”

UPDATE (August 9. 2010) We understand that the taxi ads are “out-there”  (supposedly). However, the ONE and only taxi ad that was seen at the beginning of the campaign was vandalized. We just don’t ‘get’ how FIFTY taxis with the “Leaving Islam” ad remains un-spotted.

Stood on 8th ave and 47th today and 10th ave and 47th (different times of the day) Loads of taxis in mid-town. Caught 8 blanks and LOTS of Flash dance, but NO “Leaving Islam” (which still remains a ‘tad’ odd, we think.)

BREAKING from Atlas Shrugs (August 6, 2010) Bloomberg and the MTA are now bowing to 7th century Sharia Law . They have  censored the Freedom Defense Initiative (FDI) and Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) PAID FOR Bus Ads . Be sure to read the entire article at Atlas Shrugs.

Below NMAGZ  has posted all the versions that Geller submitted to the city, yet the city  continues to stall-out on accepting any of these adjustments :

From Pamela Geller at ATLAS SHRUGS:

Today we filed a lawsuit against the city of New York. Here is the complaint: Download Complaint–FDIvMTA–Filed_Stamped

The city has refused to run my SIOA “Preservation of Ground Zero” bus campaign.

It seems that Mayor Bloomberg invokes certain freedoms when it serves his 2012 agenda. Doing away with term limits wasn’t enough […] Bloomberg’s frenzied push may have inspired Al-Azhar clerics to oppose the Ground Zero Mosque, calling it a “a zionist plot.

Last month, I signed a contract with CBS Outdoor to run a “Preservation of Ground Zero” bus ad campaign. The campaign was paid for in full.

Here is the ad I submitted:

Ground zero bus

The ad was refused. I asked on what grounds. CBS Outdoor told me that the city said that “images of 911 were not allowed.” I was floored. I said, “It is American history. How can it be banned? What about Pearl Harbor? Is that censored too?” I said, “On what grounds is 911 images banned?” It is unconscionable. Will of CBS said, “You can’t run the plane.”

I asked CBS/MTA to provide me with the guidelines for these seventh-century censorship restrictions. They never did. […]

Ground zero noplane

CBS refused this ad as well. They said I had to remove the smoke. “The smoke?”

When I spoke to CBS’s representative concerning the second rejection of my Ground Zero bus ad, he said that the MTA “doesn’t want to associate the new building with Ground Zero.” The showing of the burning buildings “hurts people.” “Hurts people?” I find bus ads proselytizing for Islam hurts apostates, are you going to take those bus ads down?

I said, “Are you saying images of the largest attack on American soil are censored?” Are Pearl Harbor images censored? Gettysburg, too?

He said, “The people behind the new building say it has nothing to do with Ground Zero.” I said, “So what? That’s what they say. Others think differently. […]

I said, “I took out the plane as requested — now what’s the problem?” He said the flames.

And so I took out the smoke and submitted this ad:

Ground zero bus ad no smoke

CBS, on behalf of the MTA, said, “Remove the plane.”

Will of CBS said[…]  he was “trying to help me.” He said, “Get me an ad a/s/a/p without smoke, without any flames — just the towers.”

And so, I submitted another planeless ad[…]

Ground zero bus last art

[…]  I am still awaiting approval from the MTA.

Today my legal team of David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise filed suit against NYC.

The complaint against the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority has now been filed. It alleges violation of FDI’s (and Pamela Geller’s and Robert Spencer’s) Free Speech rights under the First & Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

[…] the MTA decided that it was going to accept the “viewpoint” of Imam Rauf and his Islamist co-conspirators – to wit, that their plan to develop the Ground Zero Mosque has nothing to do with marking the “victory” marked by the destruction of human life and property on 9-11. Literally, the MTA made it its business to decide which of many viewpoints it would deem politically correct speech for advertisements on its buses.

[…]this jihad against free speech […]MTA has run any number of controversial religious and political ads without batting an eyelid […]the Shariah-faithful cowed Mayor Bloomberg and the MTA […] dhimmi-like submission, the First Amendment to the Constitution gave way to Shariah’s blasphemy laws. (what’s next?) […]the Mayor’s office begins issuing fatwas against those who dare counter the “noble and peaceful outreach” narrative?

Mr. Mayor and your colleagues at the MTA and the Landmark Commission:

[…]You claim the mantle of the Constitution as a basis for supporting a Shariah-Islamist mosque at Ground Zero, yet the MTA—a government agency of the City—cavalierly denies “infidels” freedom of speech. Enough is enough. (David Yerushalmi)

The honorable Dutch MP Geert Wilders has accepted our invitation to speak at the 911 demonstration opposing the mega mosque at Ground Zero. We owe him a debt of gratitude (Wilders came in third in the recent Dutch elections) for exposing the Dutch government’s donation of $1,290,000 to Imam Rauf’s “Cordoba initiative” — first reported at Atlas here.

Geert Wilders demanded an explanation from House of Parliament on why the Dutch Government would  fund the Ground Zero Islamic supremacist mosque.

Geert Wilders to New York on 9/11

Geert Wilders will be speaking in New York on September 11 at a protest demonstration against the building of a mega mosque near Ground Zero.

By accepting this invitation, Geert Wilders expresses his support for the people opposing the building of a mosque near the place where Islam committed the worse atrocity of the past decade. The attack on the WTC towers on 9/11, 2001, was an attack on the entire Western civilization.

Landmark Commission (video) votes to deny landmark status for 45-47 Park Place
August 3, 2010, 11:09 pm
Filed under: Islam and mosques, mayor bloomberg sells out, mosque at ground zero

Update August 6: New video of  Zead Ramadan, the Hamas-linked CAIR leader who  spoke to the fawning press outside the Landmark Commission at Pace University. This was after the commissioners voted 9-0 to deny landmark status to the old Burlington Coat Factory at 45-47 Park Place.

August 6, The Weekly Standard: STATS on opposition ,  “According to a Siena poll from yesterday, 61 percent of New Yorkers oppose the Ground Zero mosque. ( 56 percent of New York City residents oppose the mosque.)”

Read specifics on the poll by clicking on Siena (above)and click on picture below to enlarge for better reading:

Update August 4: added a few more pictures…. AND from Andrea Peyser at the NY Post: “A New Hijacking”

Yesterday’s 9-0 vote by the Landmarks Preservation Commission to deny the soon-to-be-mosque landmark status essentially gift-wrapped the site and delivered it to the venture known as Park 51. This was the latest outrage against those who cry at the thought of seeing an Islamic temple rise atop their loved one’s ashes.[…] Critics, including Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, have been demonized as “racists.” And not just by Muslims. Mayor Bloomberg, the mosque’s chief booster, suggested offensively that those who oppose it are dumb Islamophobes.” Read more

.

Update : with info on the commissioners….as we prepare for a lawsuit! Atlas Shrugs has the details and from Robert Spencer:

“…immediately after the Tuesday vote, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) characterized the Landmarks Commission decision as “deeply offensive to many of the victims and families of the 9-11 tragedy.” Jay Sekulow of the ACLJ explained: “The actions taken by the City of New York represent a blatant disregard for the city’s own procedures, while ignoring the fact that this is a historic and hallowed site that should not be destroyed to build an Islamic mosque. It has been clear from the beginning that the city has engaged in a rush to push this project through – ignoring proper procedure and ignoring a growing number of New Yorkers and Americans who don’t believe this site is the place to build a mosque.” As the ACLJ is representing a firefighter who survived 9/11 at the World Trade Center site, Sekulow announced: “We’re poised to file legal action on behalf of our client to challenge this flawed decision and put a stop to this project. […] “…no one is even calling for the expulsion of the Muslims who are currently praying in the existing former Burlington Coat Factory building at 45 Park Place; the Burlington Coat Factory is not a thirteen-story triumphal mega-mosque.”

.

August 3, 2010. 9:30 AM. Pace University. The Landmark Commission was holding a brief 30 minutes session to decide the landmark status of the former Burlington Coat Factory.

Lots of press  was waiting to get in when we arrived at 8:30 AM.

Cameras all over the facility, from every angle (particularly CNN)

And this was early…it got only more and more crowded

At 9:30 , the Landmark Commissioners each gave a statement and then voted.

No surprises here. It had been announced the day before that they would NOT be granting landmark status to the Burlington Coat Factory; a building  (that still holds a part of one of the planes that was slammed into the WTC on 9-11).

The Commission voted 9-0 to deny landmark status to this building. SoHo Properties/Cordoba  Initiative  may now  demolish 45-47 Park Place as they prepare to break-ground on  Park51. This unfortunate ‘community center” will have its ground-breaking on September 11, 2011. The outrage continues….

In attendance were Daisy Kahn (wife of Imam Rauf) , Sharif El-Gamal (SoHo Properties) You can click pictures to see a larger resolution of picture.

and Zead Ramadan of CAIR. (Robert Spencer has more on this Hamas-linked CAIR leader)

(However, Imam Rauf  is still MIA)

Also, present were  Pamela Geller of SIOA (Stop Islamization of America)It was annoying having to sit for even 5 minutes, let alone  35  minutes that the commission used to play out this charade….

And Rick Lazio (Republican candidate for Governor). Rick  is also looking none-too-pleased…

But, this lovely Upper East-side type, is smugly leaving no doubt as to whose side she was on:

Someone should have told her, if you want your sign to be read, USE A  BLACK MARKER!

The J-Street Dhimmi Brigade: looking gloomy….

And then, when the charade had ended,  the  crush of cameras inside moved  outside .

The press was swarming this young woman, obviously a convert to Islam: Megan Pugney, of the Muslim Consultative Network. She is quoted as saying, “It was not real Muslims who brought down the WTC”. Also, when asked, she said she is not married. Wonder WHAT could possibly have motivated her to accept the misogyny of sharia law.

And Zead Ramadan, the Hamas-linked Cair leader, insisting he did not represent the Cordoba initiative.  But that didn’t stop him from speaking FOR the Cordoba Initiative (in the minds of the gullible press). Also, swarmed by the very eager press, that he stayed til the bitter end. He did not leave until all of the press was gone.

Another  Dhimmi from  J-Street...”The Community of Yes”….

A few of those who supported landmark status, did get to speak to the press…but not enough….

And for some  info on  Bloomberg’s Puppets there follows a  list of the ‘honorable’ commissioners, the LPC website and a brief description along with their pictures.

The commission will vote Tuesday morning on whether to grant protected status to the building that would be knocked down to make way for the community center. Sources say the existing building does not meet architectural criteria necessary for protection by the city.

Landmarks to Vote Tuesday on Potential Mosque Site

The city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission has made a quick turnaround on the controversial site for a potential ground zero mosque, and will hold a vote on it this coming Tuesday, Aug. 3—during what will likely be a very calm public meeting.

The Commission held a hearing two weeks ago to discuss the potential landmark status of 45-47 Park Place, a five-story building, that stands as a prominent example of the store and loft structures that dominated the drygoods warehouse districts of the Lower Manhattan. (The Observer profiled the building earlier this month.)

While it’s not definite that the Commission will vote against a landmark designation, Mayor Bloomberg, who appoints the Commission’s members, has made his support for the mosque very clear. And though it attracted a lot of media attention and a rowdy crowd at the official hearing—moved to Hunter College to accommodate the masses—it’s not the architecture or historical significance that most care about.

But that’s exactly what the Commission will be voting on at 9:30 a.m. in the main theater of the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University.

The possible landmark status dates all the way back to 1989, when the Commission held public hearings to consider designation for Tribeca districts and individual sites.

Bloomberg is ramming this stab in the eye of every American through at breathtaking speed.

NMAGZ: Where there was once a coat factory, Bloomberg is ramming through a mosque; granting permission to build a mosque/community/prayer center (now called Park 51) without delay! Yet he says nothing about the rebuilding of St. Nicholas Church.  A CHURCH! that was destroyed by the Islamic Terrorists on 9-11.

TEN years later the CHURCH still can’t get a break.  Shame on you Bloomberg and Company. You let the Port Authority stall the rebuilding of this church and you ram-though a mosque; blatant favoritism? Prejudice? What do you call it??

St nicolas church

From Atlas Shrugs:

The Port Authority has become a roadblock to the rebuilding of this Church. This effort is stalled while the mosque at ground zero gets fast tracked. UNACCEPTABLE!

You may remember that the citizens of Bari, Italy raised $500,000.00 and gave it to the Church’s leaders for the rebuilding effort. That money was raised in 6 months after 9/11 occurred. The Church has a deal with the Port Authority which states they would give the Church more land to rebuild. The PA keeps stalling.

Its time for us to push them forward. Here’s their website: http://www.panynj.gov . Let them know you want them to complete the deal so the Church can be rebuilt. NINE years is far too long for this outrageous delay to have gone on and we won’t stand for it.

**                                              **                                                    **

TOMORROW MORNING! August 3, 2010. Landmark Commission. 9:30 AM . Let them know how you feel about Bloomberg’s  gift to the city: A mosque for Thee, whether you want it or not!

Weekly Standard on the announcement against the location of Park 51 by the  ADL (Anti-Defamation League): “We categorically reject appeals to bigotry on the basis of religion, and condemn those whose opposition to this proposed Islamic Center is a manifestation of such bigotry. However, there are understandably strong passions and keen sensitivities surrounding the World Trade Center site.  We are ever mindful of the tragedy which befell our nation there, the pain we all still feel – and especially the anguish of the families and friends of those who were killed on September 11, 2001.”

From Fox News (Aug 2, 2010) “…causing concern is the fact that the leader of the group behind the project, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, in the past has refused to classify Hamas as a terrorist group and has argued that U.S. foreign policy was an “accessory” to the Sept. 11 attacks.”

And from the NY Sun…. Observations from the NY Sun on the ADL’s decision to come out in opposition the the Ground Zero Mosque:

Cordoba’s Opportunity

Editorial of The New York Sun | August 1, 2010

“The battle over a proposed $100 million mosque and Islamic center at Ground Zero could well be at a turning point, the New York Times reported over the weekend. Its assessment was made after the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abraham Foxman, came out in opposition to situating the site adjacent to the epicenter of the attacks on September 11, 2001. We telephoned Mr. Foxman to offer congratulations. It had to have been a hard call for him, with so many supporters of the project suggesting that the sole reason for opposing it had to be bigotry.

That suggestion has struck us from the start as a libel. There may be some bigots in opposition to the project, but they would be a small percentage, in our guess. We thought Mr. Foxman put it exactly right in suggesting that the fact that the Cordoba Initiative may win the right to build at the site where extremists acting in the name of Islam slew so many innocent people doesn’t make building such a center there the right thing to do. We mentioned to him that we’d been impressed with the way Sarah Palin articulated her early opposition to the project.

“She’s got seichel,” we remarked to Mr. Foxman. It was a reference to the Yiddish word that has no single-word English translation but means a combination of intelligence, wisdom, and common sense. Mrs. Palin’s short messages on Twitter were crafted as a call not on the government to prohibit the project but on the moderate Muslims themselves to — in her now classic formulation — “refudiate” the plan. Her call was for forbearance out of understanding of the special nature of the Ground Zero site in the city’s and the nation’s memory.

There is no doubt that this is an excruciating circumstance for moderate Muslims, who say that they want to create bridges to America. The situation reminds many of us of the crisis over the Carmelite nuns who wanted to establish a convent at Auschwitz. We don’t want to make any inappropriate comparisons in respect of the Holocaust, which is unique in history. But what settled that crisis with the Carmelites was the grit of a few courageous protesters, like Rabbi Avi Weiss, and the seichel of John Paul II, who grasped that the demand for forbearance was not hostility toward his religion and that understanding was not weakness.

John Paul II’s decision to move the Carmelite nuns was an important moment. It helped establish the pope’s reputation as a builder of relations between the church and the Jewish people. His establishment of relations with Israel, his visit to Yad Vashem, his visit to a synagogue were others. The Cordoba Initiative has many admirers whom we admire, including Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic. But by our lights the current controversy adds up to an opportunity for the Cordoba Initiative to show its capacity for respect, understanding, and forbearance.”

NMAGZ: Location-Location-Location! and yes,  “…an opportunity for the Cordoba Initiative to show its capacity for respect, understanding, and forbearance.”
