What I don’t get though is: If Geller really wanted to get exposure—why not run the ads on the front of buses at New York City Bus for the month of September? The message would have been inescapable except for areas where only express buses run.

(By my count, that would be about 3,400 small posters on the front of every NYC bus that normally carries front ads.)

Posting this war memorial would have been a lot cheaper. It’s a war memorial because it was destroyed to near completion on 9/11, but was the only vehicle restored from it (all other vehicles around the site were scrapped).

Perhaps cost is a factor. That may be more expensive …and these weren’t cheap!

True, but there is the option for Manhattan only (which is for about 740 buses).

Geller and Wilders, God bless you!

Please no mosques in America, islam does not belong here, it’s like mixing oil and water

How I see this likely resolving itself: Instead of this congregation moving in which has courted controversy, Masjid Manhattan (which has been in that area for 40 years but you may or may not have heard of them), with which local leaders are very familiar, takes 45-51 Park Place and simply reconfigures the existing building (restoring it to full usability) without the confinements of landmark status.

They are currently at 20 Warren Street in leased space, and are unrelated to Jerrahi Nur Ashki, which you have heard of.

The existing building remains, and most people end up happy.

one of the first posts we made here at nomosques was on the mosques/masjids in the area. Walked to each and posted pictures…many of masjids pics are in the flickr slide show…

Got it—the picture for the Masjid Manhattan probably is because of the lack of space. But unlike the controversial group, at least the neighborhood knows of them.
